WWA Windsurf News
October 1999

Although we had a really mild winter this year, it has been really nice to have some warm weather sailing lately! There’s been a few good days out at Plimmerton, as well as lots of sailing in the Ditch, and at Seatoun, and Eastbourne.

The AGM was held recently – lots of ideas and enthusiasm for the new season, and a few new members too.

AGM News

The Chocolate Fish Café was proposing to turn part of the grassy area at Scorching Bay into parking. A letter opposing this was sent to the council, and we have been notified that this will not be going ahead – No Parking signs have been put up there.

It was noted that on Saturdays there is racing at Eastbourne, with the Eastbourne Yacht Club. All welcome to join in, start time is 1.30pm.

The www.windnet.co.nz site which gave half hourly wind information has been replaced by a phone service – 0900 WINDCHECK.

Watersports Evan’s Bay (previously Evan’s Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Club) had a representative at the AGM offering individual memberships to sailors. This would encompass storage, rigging area, showers, access to bar on weekends etc. Contact 386 2652 weekends, or email admin@watersports.org.nz.

The committee has put together a calendar of events through until Christmas, involving some fun racing and relays, BBQ’s, and of course, a night out on the town! There will also be a woman’s clinic taken by Cindy Mosey again this season – date to be confirmed.

We had 96 paid up members last season; the new (financial) season began 1st October, so please pay your subs as soon as possible ($25 single/$40 family).
